The Royal Oak (Rude Giant)

The Royal Oak (Rude Giant), Salisbury, SP2 0PD

A 17th-century ivy-clad village pub on Langford Road in Great Wishford, about five miles north-west of Salisbury — now the brewery tap for Rude Giant Brew Co. A wet-led local with real ales, log fires and a garden, in walking and cycling country.

In a reply dated 16 June 2026, Rude Giant's head brewer said all its beers, including the cask ales at The Royal Oak, were laboratory-certified gluten free below 20ppm despite being brewed from barley, wheat and oats. The pub reported no active kitchen and a snack offer of packaged crisps, nuts and olives, plus Purbeck ice creams. The brewer believed the ice creams were all gluten free; check the label on the particular product you choose.

Check the current beer labelling with staff and read the allergen label on any snack or ice cream you choose. The June 2026 reply did not establish that every snack or ice-cream flavour was gluten free.

Can I see the allergen label for this snack or ice cream?

In a reply dated 16 June 2026, Rude Giant's head brewer said all its beers, including the cask ales at The Royal Oak, are laboratory certified gluten free below 20ppm. The pub reported no active kitchen and a snack offer of pre-packaged crisps, nuts and olives with allergen marking, plus Purbeck ice creams. That describes the products on sale, not a method for keeping gluten apart, and it does not cover every snack or ice cream, so check the label on each item.
