Radnor Arms

Radnor Arms, Salisbury

Independent, gastro-leaning country pub in Nunton, about three miles south of Salisbury. An ambitious menu of tapas, salads, grills and Sunday roasts, with a large garden.

This is one of the stronger community gluten-free leads near Salisbury. A gluten-free bread substitute is offered against the ploughman's and bread dishes, and much of the menu leans naturally gluten-free — tapas plates, salads, grilled steak, lemongrass tofu or chicken, and quinoa-stuffed peppers. Coeliac diners report a separate fryer for fish and chips, gluten-free desserts, gluten-removed beer and "extremely knowledgeable staff," and note that if you mention a coeliac when booking, the chef will mark up a personalised menu for you.

The official menu carries a standard "tell us about allergies or coeliac before ordering" line. Community reports consistently mention a dedicated gluten-free fryer and other separate equipment, though it isn't a dedicated gluten-free kitchen, so the venue advises contacting them directly. The best approach here is to mention a coeliac when you book so the chef can prepare for you.

Do you fry the gluten-free fish and chips in a separate, dedicated fryer? If I note a coeliac when booking, will the chef mark up a personalised gluten-free menu? Which battered or fried items can be done gluten-free, rather than only the standard battered fish?

The menu carries a coeliac and allergen notice and offers a GF bread option, and two independent coeliac community reviewers separately describe a dedicated fryer, knowledgeable staff and chef-annotated GF menus — strong corroboration, though the venue itself has not published a dedicated-kitchen or accreditation statement.

This information is researched but not guaranteed — menus and kitchen practices change. Always tell staff you are coeliac.
