Radnor Arms

Radnor Arms, Salisbury, SP5 4HS

Independent, gastro-leaning country pub in Nunton, about three miles south of Salisbury. An ambitious menu of tapas, salads, grills and Sunday roasts, with a large garden.

The pub runs a dedicated gluten free menu, printed as the full carte with anything containing gluten shown in red, so you can see your whole choice on one sheet. The October 2026 edition covers tapas, mains, vegetarian dishes, sandwiches, children's meals and sides. Tapas on the list include clams in tomato and white wine, mackerel escabeche, butter bean stew, crispy pollock with alioli, halloumi bites with chilli jam, gambas al ajillo, patatas a la Riojana and stuffed dates, with gluten free bread and oil to add. Mains include red wine braised ox cheeks, confit duck, crispy pork belly and a cranberry, brie and spinach stuffed chicken breast. The battered fish of the day with Koffman's chunky chips is on the list, and in August the pub told us it uses a cider-based gluten free batter and a gluten free fryer. All six sandwiches come on gluten free bread. Chips, petite fries, polenta-coated sweet potato fries and the house salad are all on, and children can have the sausages, ham and eggs or battered fish.

Ask for the gluten free menu when you sit down; it is a separate sheet and it is what starts the kitchen's separate preparation. Read the red print carefully: the shortcrust pie, Radnor burger, fisherman's pie, lasagne, Cajun salmon, the Wellington, onion rings and garlic ciabatta are out, and the BBQ mushroom burger is gluten free only without its onion rings. The menu's own footer asks anyone with coeliac disease to speak to a staff member before ordering. The pub is clear it is not a gluten free kitchen.

Which desserts are available gluten free for adults?

The pub's October 2026 gluten free menu covers tapas, mains, vegetarian dishes, sandwiches, children's meals and sides, with items to avoid printed in red and underlined. In August 2026, the proprietor described a separate prep area with colour-coded boards and separate utensils extending to plating, gluten free food kept at the top of the oven to prevent cross-contamination, and a gluten free fryer for chips and fish made with cider rather than ale. The pub is clear that it is not a dedicated gluten free kitchen; the grade rests on these described handling methods.
