Charlotte's Restaurant @ Landford Garden Centre (In-Excess)

Charlotte's Restaurant @ Landford Garden Centre (In-Excess), Salisbury, SP5 2BE

A Charlotte's café-restaurant inside In-Excess Landford Garden Centre on the A36, about ten miles south-east of Salisbury on the New Forest fringe — a wider-radius option, with breakfast, lunch and afternoon-tea sittings.

Charlotte's here is part of the wider In-Excess group, and their Area Catering Manager confirmed directly that gluten-free options — cake, mains or light lunches — are available at every one of their four Charlotte's cafés, including this one. Each site keeps its own allergen folder covering all 14 major allergens, and every new dish added to the menu — including cooked breakfasts — is checked to make sure a gluten-free version exists alongside it.

This is one of the group's two full restaurants, and the fryer setup is confirmed from their Area Catering Manager directly: dedicated fryers for gluten-free fish and gluten-free chips. One caution — scones here are baked in-house and are NOT gluten-free; gluten-free scones are bought in from a supplier instead, and gluten-free cakes come from external bakeries, so ask for the bought-in gluten-free options by name. Group-wide, staff complete a level 2 allergen-awareness course and allergen prep uses colour-coded (purple) equipment. A new menu is in development group-wide, so check what's current when you visit.

For fish and chips, can you confirm the dedicated gluten-free fryers are in use today? Are the gluten-free scones the bought-in ones, kept separate from the in-house baking?

Area Catering Manager Paul Hardiman confirmed dedicated gluten-free fryers at this site (one for gluten-free fish, one for gluten-free chips), alongside the group's level 2 allergen training and colour-coded prep equipment. In-house scones are not gluten-free — gluten-free scones are bought in — so the remaining care point is bakery cross-contact, which the card notes for diners.
