The Riverside Tea Garden (Riverside Cafe & Tea Garden)

16 Salisbury Street, Fordingbridge, SP6 1AF

A seasonal tea garden on the River Avon, reached down an alley off Salisbury Street, with about seventeen tables on the grass by the medieval Great Bridge — and a gluten-free flatbread option on the 2026 lunch menu.

The 2026 lunch menu offers a gluten-free flatbread as the base for any of its fillings, from the Nutty Clucker to beef and chimichurri, for two pounds extra, and jacket potatoes are naturally on the menu. The menu adds that some items can be made gluten free if you ask a member of staff.

Nothing published explains how the small kitchen keeps the gluten-free flatbread apart from ordinary flatbreads, bakery rolls and toast, and breakfast has no gluten-free bread option at all. It is an outdoor, weather-dependent operation running roughly May to September. Researched with care — never a guarantee.

Is the gluten-free flatbread prepared and heated separately from the ordinary flatbreads and bakery rolls? Which of the counter cakes of the day, if any, are made gluten free?
