The Lyndhurst Tea House

26 High Street, SO43 7BG

Traditional tea house on Lyndhurst High Street with an extensive gluten free menu and gluten free scones, cakes and bakes made in house. The kitchen has described a worked-out routine for keeping them apart from the gluten-containing baking.

The tea house makes its gluten free bakes in house, including plain, fruit and cheese scones, and offers gluten free cream teas, a selection of gluten free cakes and any sandwich toasted on gluten free bread. All the sausages are gluten free, so a cooked breakfast does not depend on a substitution being remembered. Community listings add breakfasts, toasties, jacket potatoes and main meals.

The tea house is straight that it is not a gluten free kitchen, and it has set out what it does instead: gluten free baking done at the start of the day, stored apart from the gluten-containing bakes, kept on the top shelf of the cake fridge and cut with separate knives, a separate toaster sited away from the others, and gluten free orders cooked on separate trays in their own area. Fries can be done in a separate pan if you ask. Earlier visitor reports of the handling were mixed and one described a scone served as gluten free that was not, so it is still worth confirming at the counter which items are gluten free on the day.

Are fries and fried items cooked in the separate pan today? Which of the bakes in the counter are today's gluten free ones? Is my toast going in the separate toaster?
