Braxton Gardens and Tea Rooms

Lymore Lane, SO41 0TX

Garden tea rooms at Braxton Courtyard on Lymore Lane in Milford on Sea, serving cakes, scones and cream teas, and open about the limits of their gluten-free baking.

The menu offers gluten-free bread for sandwiches and cheese toasties, plus gluten-free scones, cream teas and cakes. The tea rooms say the gluten-free cakes and scones are baked and cooled in the same equipment, oven and racks as gluten-containing products. Cakes sit on clean glass domes at the front of the tea room, and scones are kept frozen in a separate box. Sandwiches and toasties are made with items kept separate where possible, but the grill that makes the toasties is also used for gluten products, on a clean tray with greaseproof paper.

The kitchen is small and the tea rooms say they cannot guarantee that cross-contamination does not occur. Warmed scones and bread go on a separate tray in an oven that may also hold gluten products. Weigh that against your own sensitivity and talk to staff before ordering.
