Arboro Lounge

The Furlong, BH24 1AT

Loungers cafe-bar in the Furlong shopping centre, open all day from breakfast through dinner. The chain is one of the stronger high-street options for coeliacs: a dedicated gluten-free menu with genuine breadth, and a published allergen process behind it.

A full dedicated gluten-free menu runs from breakfast to dinner rather than a few token dishes; the chain's own words are lots of options, not just one or two salads. Loungers publishes an allergen guide and asks you to re-check it each visit because recipes change.

Loungers' published process is that allergen orders are taken by a senior member of staff, food is prepared in a separate area and delivered by senior front-of-house, though the chain is clear it cannot fully guarantee any dish. This branch told us it runs one fryer, not a separate gluten free one, so ask what else is cooked in that oil before ordering chips. Say you are coeliac, not just gluten free, when ordering.

What else is cooked in the fryer the chips come out of? The gluten free menu carries may-contain items — can staff check the allergen guide with me for what I pick?

This information is researched but not guaranteed — menus and kitchen practices change. Always tell staff you are coeliac.
